Please see our 360 Virtual Tour

Check-In Time is 4 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. or otherwise by special arrangement - when you have provided your arrival time, we will provide our cell or other contact phone number in order to assure contact should you be unable to arrive during the pre-arranged time frame. Please call us if you are going to be late. We are not always available and not always on site, during the early p.m. until just before checkin time and therefore we need to know when you are arriving.    Arrangements outside-of-usual times need to be organized and clearly communicated.

If you need to checkin very early/prior to our usual checkin time, or very late/after 11 p.m. a fee may apply.

Check-out Time is 10:30 a.m. or earlier.
Please let us know if you will be leaving earlier as this will assist us greatly with scheduling the cleaning such that early check-ins are sometimes possible.
PAYMENT METHODS

We accept major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard,  and Diner's Club - a signed, faxed or posted signature is necessary to confirm your deposit and booking - we will email you a brief form to print out, fill in and scan/email or fax back to us.

Your deposit or full payment as per below, confirms and holds your reservation.
For all stays in the self-catering suites:  Payment required is 50% (half) to confirm, at the time of booking (the deposit) and the balance is due 4 weeks prior to occupancy.  For stays of less than one week, the full amount is payable at the time the booking is confirm.

For B & B stays  / the Magnolia Room:  if you are staying 4 nights or less, we require pay in full at the time of booking. For longer stays, we require 50% to confirm the booking and the balance due on arrival.

Both the 50% deposit and the payment of the balance due may be paid in the form of cash, traveler's cheques, or by credit card including Visa, Mastercard, or Diner's Club.

If your stay is for 4 nights or less in the Magnolia Room, or less than one week in the self-catering suites (the Penthouse and the Garden Suite) we will require full payment in advance.

If either the deposit or the balance are received in the form of $USD cash or cashier's cheque, we will honour the bank exchange rate (at our bank) on the day we receive the funds.

Payment by email transfer is possible for guests with a Canadian bank account.

Drafts and cashiers cheques are unfortunately no longer accepted since the B & B and vacation rental industries have been targeted by too much fraud and scams involving this form of payment in recent years.

Personal cheques written on Canadian accounts will be accepted for deposits and for the balance due when paying for the self-catering suites but not for the balance due on arrival when paying for B & B / Magnolia Room bookings nor for any payments due on or after arrival. To hasten confirmation of reservation, cheques should be sent by Express Post.

Credit card payments of both the deposit and the balance must be accompanied by a signed authorization which we will provide by email attachment. After filling in the details and signing, you should return this form by fax within 24 hours if possible; and otherwise by post after letting us know by email or phone that
we should expect it in the mail.

Cancellation Policy

It is strongly recommended that you obtain travel insurance to cover the possibility of illness, injury or other possible events, issues or reasons which might precipitate your need to cancel.

For B & B stays in the Magnolia Room:
Your 50% deposit for a longer stay, or your prepayment of a minimum stay booking, are refundable in full minus an administration fee that is equivalent to the regular rate for a one night's stay until midnight on the day before the date that falls 2 weeks prior to the first night of your booking. Thereafter, it is non-refundable.
We will however, try to rebook the room and if we do, you will receive a reffund that is equal to the amount we have been able to retrieve, minus the admin fee as already described.

For the self-catering vacation rental suites, the Penthouse & the Garden Suite: Once you have paid the deposit, your booking is confirmed and you are responsible for the full amount of the rental.  However, if you must cancel we will make our best effort to fill the booking and if we do, we will refund what you have paid us minus an administration fee of $250 and minus any difference between the full value of the rental and the amount we have been able to rent the suite for should it be necessary for us to discount our rates in order to fill the cancelled booking.  In addition to the lost income associated with a cancellation in  the self-catering suites, there are significant costs for us as well as a significant investment of time.

Bookings for late in the season often happen early in the season.  If you have reserved and therefore held the suites or the B & B booking for a period of time, it is quite likely that we will have turned away many potential bookings, sometimes bookings that would have been for a longer stay than you have reserved and held, and yet it may be impossible for us to re-book because previously interested others will have made other arrangements for their stay in Vancouver.  Please understand that considerable effort, costly advertising and other expenses are involved both when you cancel and to make these accommodations available for you in the first place.  It is your responsibility to purchase trip cancellation insurance for the hopefully unlikely event that you might may need to cancel.

Breakfasts at Casa Mora

We are usually not able to serve breakfasts earlier than 0800 but will provide a self-serve breakfast or give you a brown bag breakfast with, for example, juice, fruit and a muffin.

We serve, for instance, organic berry smoothies made with low fat yoghurt and soy, muffins, excellent coffee, tea, pure juices, fresh fruit, or fresh fruit salads, low fat banana bread, baked french toast, crepes with maple syrup or organic jams, gourmet granolas and mueslis, cereal tarts with yogurt and fresh fruit, fritatas, sweet corn fritters with roast tomato, pancetta or proscuito and arugula, biscotti, brushetta, omelettes made with free range eggs, avocado toast with lime and coriander, and many other favourite recipes.

The Penthouse and the Garden suite are self-catering and thus breakfasts are not included however a basic supply of tea, milk and sugar will be in the suites when guests arrive.  Online shopping and delivery are available via
Stong's a local grocery store but please arrange for deliveries only after your arrival as we do not have extra refrigerator space.

Otherwise, you may purchase what you need on 10th Avenue, 2 blocks away, in the very wonderful boutique shopping area known as the Point Grey Village, an urban village with many casual cafes, coffee houses, and some of Vancouver's best known restaurants, for fine dining.

Also available in the Point Grey Village are banks, bookstores, gift shops, fabric shops, a library, post office, cinema, video rentals, kitchen shops, delis, produce stores and bakeries, health foods, and most services.

A specialty wine store, Liberty Wines, gives Casa Mora guests a discount on every bottle of wine they purchase.

Bean Around the World, the Lily Pad & the Bagel Street Cafe are examples of a few of the casual places to eat inexpensive breakfasts and lunches.  Enigma offers brunch on Sundays for extended hours.

Personal Laundry

At Casa Mora we are happy to do your personal laundry for you when the otherwise busy machines are available. Fees apply - $20 CDN per load - washed, dried and folded. We are able to launder only machine washable, machine dryable laundry. Commercial laundry facilities and drycleaners are available nearby.

Unregistered Guests - Although the Penthouse and Garden suites have private entrances, Casa Mora is also a Bed and Breakfast facility as well as a family home and thus we do not expect that our guests will be entertaining or accommodating unregistered guests in these suites except by special request. We need to know who is in our home at all times. This is not only a security concern but a privacy concern for ourselves and for our other guests. Side and rear gates to the garden are locked and registered guests are given keys.

Rates advertised for the Garden Suite and for the Penthouse Suite are based on double occupancy and an extra fee of $30 per person applies for additional persons.

Single occupancy and weekly rates are available for the Magnolia Room.  This room with its' beautiful ensuite bathroom is a good choice for guests wishing a shorter stay. On occasion, we may be able to accommoate shorter stay guests in the Penthouse or the Garden Suite as well.

We are keen to see our guests return and they often do. Return guests are typically offered a discount if they are staying for more than 3 nights in the Magnolia Room or more than 5 nights in the Penthouse or Garden suites. And, for guests who are staying at Casa Mora and also seeking accommodations in the Gulf Islands, please visit
Kingfisher Cove or email us for details on a package deal which includes a cottage rental on South Pender Island and a stay at Casa Mora.

Our Green Policy

Poppies in June

At Casa Mora, we have learned that it is much easier, much more hygienic as well as more pleasant to reduce consumption, reuse items that can reasonably be reused, such as plastic shopping bags; and recycle as much as possible.

Accordingly:
  • We have a recycling system in place and all clean paper, newspapers, plastic, metal and glass are placed in a recycling bin which is clearly marked with visual aids for simplicity.
  • We have a compost in the garden. All fruit and vegetable scraps, egg shells, coffee grounds and tea bags are collected and composted - guests in the self-catering units need only put them in a sealed container under the sink and we will do the rest when they ask us or when they leave. This practice means smelly garbage bags are a very rare occurrence and the volume of garbage at Casa Mora at the weekly pick-up time is very relatively very small. In Vancouver, many items are returnable such as tetra packs and all soft drink bottles, wine bottles, most milk and juice containers and plastic grocery shopping bags, which we collect and return for our guests unless they wish to do so themselves. We ask only that you rinse them out and leave them in designated spot.
  • We provide towels in generous quantities and ask that you use what you need and not more, to minimize the impact on the ecology from the massive amount of laundry and detergents used by the tourist industry. Thus, in keeping with a world wide effort on the part of Innkeepers, we ask that you consider hanging your towel to dry and using it again. If you do want more clean towels, they are readily available for you on request.
  • We try very hard to minimize our use of toxic cleansers in the bathrooms, without sparing our ideals on disinfecting and leaving rooms very clean for our guests. We try to keep in mind that everything that goes down the drain, eventually reaches the sea or the soil.
  • We do not use herbicides or pesticides on our lawn, garden or fruit trees. The berries and fruit in our garden are organically grown.
  • We purchase locally made products as much as possible.
  • We use public transport and minimize use of our own motor vehicle; and as much as possible, we minimize use of energy used for lights, appliances, etc.
  • We keep the volume of our radios, television and music players turned down and as much as possible we seek to keep them personal and quiet. We are aware and respectful in terms of using business and household machines, keeping in mind that the production of noise is potentially bothersome to others.
  • We respect and enjoy the peace and tranquility that our neighbourhood, Point Grey, Vancouver, is famous for.
  • We ask that you join us in our efforts to protect the environment.
